Developer Plai Labs, an experienced mobile gaming studio formerly known as Jam City, has announced that they have officially published the whitepaper V2 for their free-to-play, play-to-own metaverse, Champions Ascension.
The first version of the whitepaper was previously released almost a year ago, and in the world of game development, especially in the crypto space, a lot of things can happen in the course of a year. This second edition features plenty of new information for interested players to parse through should they want to know as much as possible about this blockchain title, but as one of the team’s members said in the project’s official Discord server, this whitepaper should be seen as a “living document” that will constantly be updated as time goes on, and as such, all the info and plans you can find in this second version are still subject to change.
The newest whitepaper contains an overview of the game, an overview of the concept of “play-to-own,” details on two in-game currency called Essence and Bone, info on breeding, player progression and more.
The gameplay is described as one where players get to collect and upgrade gladiators called Champions they can not only play with but also breed to raise new warriors that you can “ascend” to higher tiers that will allow you to “access better features and even greater power.” Not only does gameplay consist of fighting other players in an arena in third-person combat, but you’ll also be able to explore dungeons while fighting various monsters and bosses and completing “player-generated challenges.” This means there will be a variety of different game modes to enjoy solo or with friends, including free-for-all modes, team-based PvP and more. You can already get a feel of the gameplay yourself by participating in free, walletless pre-alpha playtests that feature 3v3 combat.
