With 2023 drawing to a close, the developers of asymmetrical PC/VR title Boss Fighters looks back at everything achieved throughout the year while revealing their plans for next year.
2023 Recap
In this year, the team made significant strides with the game, launching it on the Elixir Launcher and Side Quest, and even on Steam in the form of a demo with guest access during the Steam VR Festival, paving the way for community growth. Next to all this though was the release of a custom launcher to help provide a seamless experience for the whole community. VR-specific updates made their way too, including a practice room, gravity gun, Berserk mode, shield, and Boss Jump mechanics to enable more dynamic movement. Chatting in-game was introduced, and so was in-game music to elevate the tense battles, with a global UI update enhancing the overall experience. Tournament matchmaking was also added in 2023, and so was a missions system to help provide a sense of progression, with power-up orbs introducing a level of unpredictability to gameplay.
What’s Next in 2024?
For next year, the team has teased a variety of developments that are set to make the year even more exciting than this one was.
Among the plans include adding utility to 2023 skins, so expect them to serve more than just a cosmetic purpose in the near future. The game is also set to be expanded to new platforms in an effort to make it more accessible to both PC and VR gamers worldwide. Twitch viewers are in for a treat, as it seems the devs are looking to develop a “whole new interactive experience in streaming and playing.” Last but not least, the partnership with Open Loot is set to be further solidified with more “innovative and surprise-filled content.”
