Game developer Twelve Random Words has announced that their blockchain MMORTS called Pulsar is now available for players to enjoy on testnet.
This testnet version is available as a downloadable title on Windows and macOS devices, but is only playable for those who registered for the free-to-play Testnet Ladder event last month. Registration opened on March 10th and closed after 1000 players signed up on a first come, first serve basis. A couple of days later all NFT holders at the were given early access, and in that same month the developers showcased a demo for off-chain dungeons at this year's GDC.
This official Testnet Ladder launch however, contains not only on-chain dungeons, but also on-chain mining, daily missions and a prize pool of 15 million $PLSR for registered players. This means that players can enjoy RTS gameplay inspired by StarCraft while mining $PLSR tokens that players will actually be airdropped at a later point on the mainnet after the event ends. As there's a 50% tax in place, this means that players will receive 50% instead of all the tokens they've managed to mine throughout this event.
While the event is free to play for registered users, the starting units can expire after 72 hours, with the official website stating that every time "a player connects to the game, the timer restarts." This means that players will have to buy units in order to continue participating in the event.
