Miracle Gates Entertainment has officially launched their free-to-play blockchain fighting game, Battle of Guardians, on the Epic Games Store.

Release Details

Users of the Fortnite creator’s store can now easily download the Web3 title for free and enjoy PvE gameplay in the form of the Story mode, as well as online competitive action through the PvP and Tournament modes.

The team seems to have made a good start to 2024 with this launch, having previously been listed on Steam in February of 2023, after which it went live in April. It can also be found on itch.io and Windows Store, while mobile users can get it on Android devices via the Google Play Store, making this action-packed fighting game available on most of the major platforms.

Gameplay

In the Story mode, players get to fight their way through 10 stages of AI opponents that get increasingly stronger the further you progress. It’s a great way to learn the basics of the game before you head into the PvP and Tournament modes, though a Training mode is also available for whenever you want to figure out the moves of a character you haven’t played with before.

In PvP, each player has their own MMR (Matchmaking Rating) made in order to try and help you match with opponents of similar skill level. If you want more 1v1 online thrills, then there is also the Tournament mode, featuring competitions consisting of a knockout system where 4-8 players fight to become the winner of the tournament.

The game’s character roster is divided into 3 races: Guardians, Humans, and Demons. Each differ in the number of health points, damage, and intelligence that they have. The intelligence attribute provides bonus damage when making combos, and is what Human characters have the most, while Demons have more health points, and Guardians can inflict higher damage than the rest. The developers have been continuously updating this cast of characters, introducing 28 new ones back in April, alongside additional maps and more.
