The team behind Axie DoLL (Defenders of Lunacian Land) has officially announced the release of patch 1.5.8, containing large updates for players to test out in preparation for the upcoming Season 2 that is scheduled to start in May.

This new patch went live on April 20th and contains new features for players to enjoy, including Class Ultimates, Passive Skills, Falling Stars and more.

Class Ultimates is a new game mechanic that players will be able to take advantage of in the new season. These are some of the most dangerous abilities that can only be used after you charge them up. Charging them requires doing certain things, which vary depending on your Axie’s class. One class has to take down monsters, while another has to collect gems. Once it’s fully charged up, the skill will either auto-activate or you’ll have to turn it on yourself. One of these special abilities is “Earth’s Blessing” which is an ultimate skill for the Plant class that lets players heal 20% of their HP.

Another new addition that can be tested out during pre-season includes Passive Skills, which are divided into 2 different categories: Instincts and Spirits. Instincts are buffs to base stats. The Ears of your Axie determine which Instincts you get, but according to the Medium post from the developers, players can unlock 6 types of Instincts as Ears of every class have access to each of them. The same applies for the 4 types of Spirits that are based on Eyes and let you take down monsters with ease as using them lets you not only possess enemies but also potentially get “a specific item or an advantage.”

Both effects are unlocked by leveling up. In order to level up, you need a Falling Star, which can spawn after taking down a boss or a certain number of monsters. Picking it up will give you a Level Up screen displaying Passive Skills that you can level up to 3 times.
