The studio behind the WAX-powered Discord game, Aphelium, has recently launched v0.19.0, which they refer to as the new crafting update.
Update Details
The latest update brings with it an overhauled crafting system designed to feel more rewarding by moving away from instant production and going towards a more strategic approach. This means that you can no longer instantly craft gear when using the craft command, but instead need to wait a certain amount of time before your new gear is successfully created, making each item have more significance while adding further tactical depth. Players can still craft multiple items of the same type at the same time, for example a total of 5 pickaxes on a basic workbench.
If you own one land plot, the team ensures players in the update post that you will still be able to “craft your essentials” and that crafting remains “vibrant and accessible,” but will now require thinking strategically ahead more than before. Players who own multiple land plots now benefit from this update by being able to craft more than one item at the same time, which can prove useful in saving time and progressing through faster. How quickly an item is crafted depends on the rarity of the land plot. If you’re creating common tools on common land, it could take an hour to craft, while doing the same on a legendary land takes only 5 minutes. By having rarity affect crafting speed, strategically acquiring new land is now way more crucial than in previous versions of the game. That’s not the only way to improve crafting speed though. By simply playing the game and leveling up, you can actually reduce crafting times, with each 10 levels gained in-game lowering crafting time by 10%.
Detailed information on crafting times and how each crafting tool now works can be found in the official announcement.
Advanced Workbench
Chromolites are set to become highly valuable gems with the release of the new advanced workbench, created by putting 10 extra wood and 5 chromolites to a basic workbench. These gems are also set to be useful for crafting upcoming Level 2 tools.
