After releasing new useful details on weapons and armor for combat, the team behind sci-fi Discord game Aphelium has officially kicked off the 45-day Season 3 Tournament with USD, token and NFT rewards.

Season Details

The season went live on March 10th at 6 PM UTC and is now in full swing, with plenty of time still to go for anyone to jump into as this is a free-to-play tournament. While any new player can start their journey in this WAX-powered title for free, the game is more of a freemium kind, meaning you’ll probably want to pay for certain NFTs in order to unlock certain features and get the complete experience for a better chance at winning a share of the rewards.

Following community feedback, the developers decided to make this season shorter in comparison to previous tournaments which lasted 90 days.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, the team has introduced mobile-friendly combat and PvE for this new season, alongside new quests to complete. The announcement also stated that Level 2 tools will be added after the first week of the season, so you can look forward to them going live during this week (if they haven’t already by the time you read this).

Rewards

For this season, the developers have introduced a live leaderboard to the game’s website in order to make it easier for players to know how much they could earn if they finished the tournament at their current standings.

The prize pool includes $2500 USD, 1.5 million $AFG and various different NFTs, all distributed through a non-linear reward system consisting of various different categories.

In the Top Performers’ Bounty leaderboard, the top 30 players will be awarded with $AFG, with the winner getting 100k $AFG, while the top 10 will also get a Trophy NFT each. WAXP prizes are also said to be included as usual. There’s also a Strategic Spots category, where players in ‘Zero Spots’ (40th, 50th....up to 100th) get $10 each, while players in tenth spots from 110th to 200th get $5 each.

Players also have a chance of earning USD and NFTs across 5 Special Categories: Hostile Alien Pleaser, Alien Pleaser, Coffee Addict, Popular, and Trustworthy.

Even if you don’t make it to the top rankings of any leaderboard, you can still earn 35k $AFG tokens by having at least 25k AP, as the team believes that “every effort should be celebrated.”
