Alien Worlds has announced the launch of msig.chat, an on-chain chat and DAO management web app backed by a Galactic Hubs grant and made for the sci-fi metaverse, but also for communities on the WAX blockchain in general.

App Features

The app is designed as a convenient way of enabling decentralized and dynamic chat ownership that can prevent various inconveniences, such as when a chat creator refuses to transfer ownership to the newly elected leader of a DAO. As such it comes with 7 main features: chat creation, on-chain encrypted message storage, proposal creation, push notifications, user profiles, community filters as well as messaging functions such as emojis, replies and pinned messages.

Chat & Proposal Creation

The app’s UI lets users create a chat in 2 different ways. One way is through an existing WAX accoutn that has a multisig setup, while the other method has you create a new WAX account while assigning a multisig to it by specifying the accounts that should be part of the multisig, also known as msig, an important aspect of every DAO on the WAX network.

When it comes to proposals, there are 4 different types of proposals created, approved and executed in the app:

  • Token transfers (which works for any token that uses eosio.token standard on WAX), 
  • Active/owner permission adjustments of the account under multisig, 
  • Enabling or disabling the ability to delete messages, and 
  • Allowing or denying access to the chat for accounts that are not a part of the msig
