The team behind the social metaverse Alien Worlds has finally brought back NFT rewards to the Mining Game.

With this reintroduction also come a number of notable changes to how the system works. Previously, Mining Tools had an “NFT Luck” attribute which had an effect on your chances of getting an NFT when mining on various planets. NFT Luck is now called NFT Power, and when you use a Mining Tool that has NFT Power, you now earn NFT Points.

Specifically, players now earn “Redeemable Points” and “Rank Points.” Points can only be gained if the Tool you’re using has NFT Power. This means that you need to have at least a Common Tool or a Tool of higher rarity in order to earn these new points. As the name implies, Redeemable Points can be used to buy NFTs, while Rank Points go towards leveling up your Rank, starting from level 1 and going all the way to level 10.

Each Rank has a certain title (such as Novice, Associate, Peacekeeper, etc.) and every time you level up, you’ll get a new NFT. The developers’ Medium blog post describes these Rank NFTs as ones which “have never before been seen or used in gameplay, and they will have utility throughout Alien Worlds.”

The team has stated that both types of points “are stored on-chain and are not transferable between accounts.”

Aside from returning NFT rewards, Alien Worlds has also recently launched a set of new missions and NFTs, as well as a grant program called the Galactic Hubs.
