Xsolla, a video game commerce company that has previously worked with the likes of Roblox, NetEase Games, Team17, WeMade and more, has officially announced a new creator-focused platform: Story3.
What Is Story3?
The founder of Xsolla, Shurick Agapitov, who recently published their own book titled “Once Upon Tomorrow,” described Story3 as a “text-based metaverse” that acts as a pilot “for an economic model intended to support creators.” It’s designed to help writers get properly rewarded for their work in a digital landscape where the traditional way of publishing tends to be a challenging source of revenue for content creators. Because of this, Xsolla has formed its own platform that offers user-friendly monetization while being a home for both writers and readers of all levels to build their career and display their original work amongst an interactive community.
Features
The platform’s monetization process is designed in such a way so that it “streamlines the payout system and guarantees creators receive fair and timely compensation.” Users can create their own stories through a “choose your own adventure” model, where participants are said to earn money for every purchased twist that gets included in the original story. Twists are the choices you’re given to pick through a story, and they can be set up both by writers, but also by readers too.
Regardless of your experience in writing, you can register for an account on the official website and start posting your own stories while reading creative works posted by the community on the platform.
When reading community-made content, you will be able to continue progressing through the narrative either by picking free twists or by using a virtual currency called Orbs to buy paid twists. If you like the story you’re reading, you can choose to share it with your friends, and if they buy twists in that story you recommended, you will be rewarded with 10% on every purchase.
Storytelling is designed to be a collaborative process in this space, where readers have the option to add their own twist to their favorite stories, continuing the narrative in a different direction. Readers can choose to monetize their twists or allow the platform’s algorithm to dynamically determine whether it should be free or paid.
Writers earn money from paid twists bought by their audience, with payouts said to be quick while earnings are displayed in real time.
