From Closed Beta to Open Access in One Step

After months of invite-only onboarding, the Startale App now operates as a fully open gateway. There are no codes to request, no queues to join, and no registration forms to complete. The platform built by Startale Group in partnership with Sony Block Solutions Labs on the Soneium Ethereum L2 is available to anyone starting today.

During its closed beta phase, thousands of early users stress-tested the experience and provided ongoing feedback, continuously shaping the product built for everyone. That iterative process has now delivered a publicly available version of what Startale calls the SuperApp vision made real.

Soneium has already processed more than 500 million transactions since mainnet launch and maintains an active base of over 5.1 million wallets. With today's open access, the network gains a consumer-facing front door that requires no prior crypto knowledge to walk through.

What the Startale App Actually Does

The Startale App operates as a unified hub for the Soneium ecosystem. Users can manage their assets, collect STAR Points through daily missions, discover Mini Apps, and be rewarded onchain, all from a single interface.

Wallet creation takes seconds using just an email address. The platform runs on Account Abstraction, using the ERC-4337 standard, which eliminates seed phrases entirely and removes gas fees from the user experience. Transactions run in the background, meaning there is nothing to sign and no separate gas token to hold. This solves the two most persistent friction points in blockchain onboarding without compromising on self-custody or Ethereum compatibility.

STAR Points, the platform's native reward currency, accumulate through daily missions, Mini App interactions, and holding Startale USD (USDSC), the ecosystem's native dollar stablecoin backed by short-term U.S. Treasuries and launched in partnership with M0. These points connect users to future ecosystem rewards, airdrops, and token generation events running through the app.

11 New Mini Apps Now Live, More on the Way

The open launch comes alongside 11 new Mini Apps now accessible within the platform. The current lineup includes AOGuardians, BurrowBash, Clash Horse, Cool Cats, Dice or Die, El Hexa, Heroes of Hecanos, Morning Farm, PackFlip, PIKIT, Pocket Knights, Pnyx, Press A to Start, and World of Trinity, covering genres from RPG and card games to farming titles and casual onchain experiences.

Mini Apps are not redirects to external websites. They are built directly on Soneium within the Startale App environment, giving players a pre-warmed audience from the moment of launch. Builders earn rewards for deploying inside the ecosystem, and users never leave the interface to play or engage.

More titles are actively in development. The Soneium ecosystem currently includes over 260 projects, and the Mini App format opens a direct path for new teams to reach users inside a platform that already has the user base and the reward infrastructure in place.

The Infrastructure Behind the Platform

Startale Group is a Japan-based web3 developer co-building Soneium alongside Sony Block Solutions Labs. The group has raised more than $70 million in total, with backing from SBI Group, Sony Innovation Fund, and Sony Ventures. A $13 million investment from Sony Ventures and Sony Innovation Fund was confirmed earlier this year to accelerate development of both the app and the underlying Soneium network.

Soneium is an Ethereum Layer 2 co-developed with Sony Group Corporation, designed for entertainment, gaming, and consumer services. It sits within the broader Ethereum ecosystem, inheriting the network's security while adding low fees and high throughput. The chain recently completed an integration with Kyo Finance, enabling seamless token swaps directly inside the Startale App across assets including USDSC, USDT, USDC.e, WBTC, ETH, and native ecosystem tokens.

Startale previously launched the Startale Superstars incubation program, offering a $250,000 prize pool to builders creating consumer and gaming Mini Apps on Soneium. That program was focused specifically on experiences that make onchain feel natural and fun for everyday players, a pipeline that now feeds directly into the Mini App library opening today.

Soneium's Gaming Ambitions Come Into Focus

The Startale App is where Sony's bet on blockchain gaming becomes concrete. Every Mini App that launches inside the platform gains instant exposure to over 300,000 registered users and access to the STAR Points reward infrastructure. For play-to-earn titles and casual onchain games, that kind of built-in audience represents a meaningful head start.

Previous Soneium Score seasons, which ran loyalty campaigns tied to the Startale App, saw active daily usage across quests and Mini App completions. The ecosystem has now moved past the campaign phase into daily utility, with the app serving as the central interface for everything from asset management and DeFi swaps to gaming and reward collection.

Startale CEO Sota Watanabe has framed the app's purpose around removing the final barrier to Web3 adoption, describing the platform as a way to make going onchain as intuitive as opening any mainstream app. With full public access now live and 11 Mini Apps ready to play, that pitch is no longer theoretical.
