Crypto gaming studio and ecosystem Uncharted has officially launched their relaxing web3 RPG Fishing Frenzy on the Ronin network, together with the game's first season: the Uncharted Waters campaign. After a highly successful alpha phase during which there were 9 million installs and supposedly 450k real players enjoying this title, the game is now back live once again to play and earn in while enjoying a number of new features and content. This newest and official release that is titled as the Uncharted Waters campaign introduces a number of welcome new additions to Fishing Frenzy. These new features are said to include NFT rods, Shiny Fish, cooking, emblems, a battle pass, a VIP system, and Frenzy Points.

In this version, players are able to gain exclusive NFT rods by minting, trading, and opening various different chests. These rods however can break, requiring you to repair them using a certain amount of gold. With NFT rods, you have a better of catching Shiny Fish, which are rarer, more valuable variants of regular fish. Unlike regular fish which are not NFTs, Shiny Fish are actually NFTs that you own and are able to trade on Ronin’s marketplace, where the floor price is currently 0.052 $RON at the time of writing. You can also find NFT fishing rods for a minimum of 0.10 $RON, as well as NFT chests, with the cheapest currently being Common Founder Chests for 1.15 $RON. Speaking of cooking though, that is also an entirely new feature in this cozy game, one that allows you to now actually cook the fish you catch to get sashimi. For now, you can sell sashimi to get Pearls that you can use to spin the wheel for rewards such as sushi, gold, bait, chests, and Frenzy Points. In the future, the developers will look to add more use cases for the Japanese delicacy.

Emblems are rewarded to all pet and chests owners from phase 1, so if you participated during that period and owned a pet or chest, congrats! With emblems, you can expect to receive future rewards in the game.

While the game is free to play, anyone who would like to support the game and earn extra rewards can buy the new premium battle pass to earn Frenzy Points. The battle pass does also have a free tier, but if you want to unlock the premium tier, you will have to pay 20 $RON tokens through the in-game store. The new VIP system allows you to gain exclusive NFTs, multipliers, and more Frenzy Points depending on your VIP level. You can increase your VIP level by spending $RON tokens in the game’s shop, with 1 $RON equal to 5 VIP Points.

Frenzy Points is a bonus new feature introduced in celebration of the game’s launch and as a way to give players special rewards within the game’s ecosystem. It’s not specifically stated what these special rewards may entail, but they could possibly end up being a token airdrop, so you may want to collect as many of these as you can.

How to Play and Earn in Fishing Frenzy: Uncharted Waters

To play and earn in Fishing Frenzy: Uncharted Waters, the first season of the game’s official launch, you need to actively play the game and possibly spend some $RON tokens to increase your chances of gaining more rewards. You can get started for free by heading to the game’s official page (linked below the launch announcement on X), with the entire game playable on any device through browsers. Upon opening the page, you can choose to play as a guest, or to login via email, SMS, Google, X, Telegram, or through a crypto wallet such as MetaMask, Ronin Wallet, or WalletConnect.

Once you’re in, you can claim your daily login reward and start playing right away. The gameplay is simple: you hold a button to cast, wait for bubbles to show up that signify the fish has taken the bait, hook on time, and then start reeling by playing a mini-game in which you click a button to try and keep the fish inside a certain zone that you move up and down to successfully catch it within a limited time. Toss your cast further for a better chance of catching rare fish. Each time you cast, you use up energy, with longer casts consuming more energy. If you don’t hook and reel the fish on time, you’ve sadly wasted energy. You have a limited number of energy, and once you run out, you’ll want to sell the fish you caught in order to buy sushi. Selling fish gives you gold, and you need 500 gold to buy sushi, which recovers 5 energy points.

As you play, you can complete various special and daily quests to earn more gold and and possibly other useful rewards. Frenzy Points and chests are likely the most valuable crypto-related prizes you can currently play and earn.

By participating in weekly leaderboards, you have a chance of earning chests depending on how high you rank. Chests are NFTs you can trade or open to gain an NFT fishing rod, which then allows you to potentially catch NFT Shiny Fish. There are weekly fishing and cooking leaderboards that rank players based on the number of XP earned. Both fishing and cooking each have multiple different leaderboards to give newer players a chance of winning rewards.

You can rank your way through the fishing leaderboard by simply catching fish, as doing so gives you XP. The more XP you gain for the week, the higher your leaderboard rank could possibly be. The rarer the fish, the more XP you get. You can use different types of bait to increase your chances of catching rarer non-NFT fish. The cooking leaderboard also ranks players by XP, except in this case, this is XP specifically for cooking fish. The cooking recipes change every day, so the types of fish you need for cooking can vary significantly on a daily basis.

Frenzy Points could end up determining your allocation of a potential airdrop. You can collect Frenzy Points as milestone rewards in the new premium battle pass, but also by reaching spending milestones in the VIP system. Spinning the wheel gives you a chance of getting more Frenzy Points as well, and so does referring friends, with referrals awarding you with 5% of the Frenzy Points that they manage to collect. Last but not least, reaching the top 100 spots in weekly fishing and cooking leaderboards is also rewarded with Frenzy Points.

For even more rewards, you may want to become a Founders Pass NFT holder. Only 888 Founders Passes exist, and they grant exclusive cosmetics, access to future rewards in Fishing Frenzy, future access to rewards in the Uncharted ecosystem, and an upcoming airdrop of an unannounced token, according to the NFT’s wiki page. The floor price of a Founders Pass is 430 $RON at the time of writing. The first snapshot of NFT holders was recently taken, with owners who had their asset in their game account wallet and not listed on any marketplace receiving rewards that included 10k gold and 100 VIP points.
