Meta Horizon Worlds
Meta has announced its plans to open Horizon Worlds to teenage users in the United States and Canada. Until now, Horizon Worlds was restricted to users 18 years of age and above. However, with the social VR platform being opened up again, a set of age-appropriate protections and safety defaults have been introduced.
In the coming weeks, Meta will open Worlds to teens aged 13 to 17 in Canada and the US, as the Quest is rated 13+. Some extra features will also be added to help give teenagers a safer platform experience. In addition, teens can play VR games like Arena Clash and Giant Mini Paddle Golf on the platform. They can also participate in concerts and live comedy events and connect with others worldwide while creating their own virtual experiences.
The team, however, did not give further information regarding the release date. However, the company has confirmed that the Horizon World would be rolled out slowly to carefully examine usage while taking a phased approach before expanding broadly.
Customized Controls for Teens
Meta further designed and built the teen experience with magnificent protections and safety defaults. These include Meta Horizon profile privacy settings so teens can approve or decline followers’ requests, active status settings for teens to choose if their connections can see if they’re active online, and a voice mode feature that automatically turns on garbled voices for all teens.
Furthermore, the team will introduce a content rating system to ensure teenagers have an age-appropriate experience within Worlds. In addition, everyone will be enabled access to additional Worlds safety tools. These include safe zone and personal boundaries. The Horizon Worlds’ teen safety features have been crafted with input from parents, safety advocates, and experts.
