Layer 2 rollup HYCHAIN has opened registration for the HYPLAY Indie-Galactic Game Jam, which comes with a $25k USD prize pool alongside other potential benefits.

Game Jam Details

The goal of this creative contest is to develop or turn your existing independently funded game into a HYPLAY application that integrates player authentication.

The theme for this competition is referred to as “GameGamify.” According to the announcement, some of the ideas that fit this theme include using elements like leaderboards, badges, points and more to track player achievements and progress . Overall though, the hosts are allowing contestants to interpret the theme as they want.

Registrations opened on May 9th, while the submission period begins on May 23rd and ends on June 5th. The winners will be announced on June 12th after the judging panel concludes voting, which is said to consist of 4 categories:

  1. Fun / Replayability / Addictiveness,
  2. Gameplay / Controls / Performance,
  3. Overall Quality (Graphics/audio),
  4. Theme, Limitations, and Originality

Limitations

There are some limitations to keep in mind before you send in your submission during the upcoming period. Specifically, your game should be playable on web browsers or mobile devices, or both. It’s also important to at least add in the HYPLAY Login or Sign up and Sign out button, while other “additional supporting front-end/interfaces” are encouraged.

Prizes

A total of $25k USD is up for grabs for the top 5 submissions, with the winner set to receive $10k USD. For 2nd place, the reward is $5000 USD, and the same amount is also given for 3rd place, while 4th and 5th place are each rewarded with $2500 USD.

Next to the prize pool, all submissions have a chance of getting HYCHAIN Foundation grants, promotional opportunities in future initiatives alongside publishing and distribution support.
