The official litepaper for Echoes of Empire, a new 4X sci-fi strategy game made by Ion Games for the Gala Games ecosystem, has recently been published ahead of the game’s global launch which took place on January 30th.
Litepaper Details
In this litepaper, players can find various info on core gameplay to help you better get acquainted with all of the mechanics that are available on launch.
Essentially, each player has their own Homebase space station from which you start off exploring the galaxy and mining resources while crafting plenty of ships to use in battle. All of this is done using the technology from 3 factions: Arbeiters, Royals and Garrison.
As you explore, you’ll uncover Celestial Objects, which can be anything with rarity visible on the map. This is where you’ll find resource mines, and is also where you will likely engage in combat against fleets of ships from other players. Next to Celestial Objects, Homebases also serve as battlefields for the initial launch version of the Web3 title, with future updates set to enable combat to take place on various other locations. Take on narrative-driven quests to earn rewards as you use Celestial Claims to take control of Celestial Objects “in order to control resources, access services, and establish strategic presence.”
Economy

Thanks to GalaChain, the game’s economy features Web3 elements in conjunction with key elements that are said to include resource generation, sinks, faucets, and more.
In this strategic title, resources are non-minted in-game items used for trading, crafting, and upgrading. Ore, Vapor and Composite are the 3 main resources generated through faucets, which is how the whitepaper labels various in-game elements that allow you to gain resources. These faucets include mines on Celestial Objects, upgradable Extractor buildings on Homebases, salvaging old ships and completing certain quests. In a future update, trading resources with other players and NPCs will also be possible.
These resources can be used on various sinks, that include crafting, upgrading, maintenance (repairing ships), and eventually, trading.
Rewards
To facilitate $GALA rewards, the game features a special in-game token called Stardust that can be earned from mines on Celestial Objects, as long as they are under player ownership through a Celestial Claim Token. If noone owns the Celestial Object you’re harvesting from, then you will not be able to gain Stardust. Through this system, you can actually raid Celestial Objects owned by other players to steal their Stardust, though a specific amount of the token is protected and reserved for the owner depending on their Command Center Homebase level.
The amount of Stardust you have will determine how much $GALA you earn, with rewards distributed every day at 2 PM PT, when 50% of Stardust in each Homebase is burned in exchange for a $GALA claim allowance in the player’s Gala account. How much you could earn also depends on how big the reward pool is, while the size of this pool depends on the amount of purchases made in the previous day on the game’s official store.
