DeRace, an NFT horse racing metaverse, is getting a series of tournaments for players to compete in this month in the form of the DERCember Cup 2023.

What Is the DERCember Cup 2023?

The DERCember Cup 2023 is a competitive event consisting of 9 tournaments spread across varying distances and surfaces. Specifically, the competitions are split into 3 different categories: Gen 0, Gen 1, and the Under 500 Club.

The Gen 0 category features 3 tournaments and is designed for rare Gen 0 horses racing on Turf 2F, Synthetic 9F, and Dirt 15F. Gen 1 is of course for Gen 1 horses on Turf 15F, Synthetic 2F, and Dirt 9F, with the category also including 3 tournaments. Last but not least, the Under 500 Club consists of 3 tournaments made for horses that have less than 500 races on Turn 9F, Synthetic 15F, and Dirt 2F.

This year’s cup will be open for registration starting from December 21st at 10 AM UTC. Turf tournaments for all categories will start on December 24th at 10 AM UTC, while Synthetic tournaments will commence one day later at the same time, with Dirt tournaments beginning on December 26th at 10 AM UTC.

An entry fee of 10 $DERC is in place for each tournament. Players will compete to progress through 3 stages: Qualifiers, Semi-Finals and Finals. Each stage has 3 rounds and 1-minute breaks between races, with horses that have the best average time moving to the next stage without the need to accept an invite, as the process is done automatically.

Prize Pool

Where there’s competition, there usually tends to be rewards, and so is the case with this cup, which has a prize pool worth more than 2500 $USDC. The prize pool includes $DERC, DeRace NFTs, 1500 $USDC, and partner rewards. Winning the cup is rewarded with 50% of the $DERC entry fee pool, alongside 80 $USDC, Opie NFT and the DERCember Cup Trophy x9.
