Developer Sphere Studios has officially listed ChronosWorlds on the Epic Games Store, where it is launching soon on Windows PCs in an early access state for eligible users before fully opening up to the public as a free to play title with optional blockchain elements. There will also be a mobile version for Android and iOS.
What Is ChronosWorlds?
ChronosWorlds is a 2.5D action platformer and RPG that is set in a colorful post-apocalyptic world. Players will get to venture out into story-driven dungeons across a diverse range of worlds in Adventure Mode while exploring procedurally generated environments and enjoying a variety of PvP game modes, including plenty of limited time multiplayer modes that go live across different seasons.
Before you dive into any mode, you will be able to socialize in a +100 player lobby called The Broken Temple, where you can go fishing, crafting, trading, and even dueling with other players. It’s from here where you will be able to team up with other players, if you don’t want to go solo in Adventure Mode or any dangerous AI-generated dungeon in which you can lose all your items if you don’t make it out alive or extract early.
The Adventure Mode features narrative-driven PvE dungeons to progress through solo or with up to 3 more friends. As you enjoy up to 4-player co-op gameplay, you can find various collectibles and easter eggs while gathering various resources, unlocking recipes, and crafting useful items and gear to help you take on increasingly-harder levels that continuously throw tougher monsters at you while putting challenging bosses to deal with along the way. It’s up to you whether you want to extract early or try to beat the whole level, but if you die, you lose all the items you have in your backpack.
When it comes to PvP gameplay, the blockchain-powered RPG is said to be built on top of an esports-ready multiplayer engine to deliver “real-time, lag-compensated, battles” with minimum bandwidth for an accessible experience across both PCs and mobile devices. This component of the game combines mechanics from well-known platform fighters with deep RPG customization options to allow players to utilize various weapons, armor and gadgets while engaging in chaotic multiplayer combat. Some of the game modes players will be able to fight in include free for all, mini royale, and more. You can look forward to competing in various arenas, tournaments, and leaderboards as well. It looks like there will even be game modes in which you can steal loot from other players.

As this is set to be an ever-growing live service game, the developers aim to continuously deliver balancing fixes and a myriad of new content, including limited time game modes throughout various seasons. One of the first game modes that will be available for a limited time includes a round-based survival mode called Ambush, where the goal will be to climb to the top of the leaderboard for valuable rewards by surviving as many rounds of new monsters and bosses as you can. For Season 0, players can also look forward to exclusive content and a premium pass for those who want enjoy everything the game has to offer.
As you play, you will make your way through a customizable progression system that allows you to earn XP and level up your character, which on launch will be able to be either a Warrior, Tank, Mage, or Assassin. Leveling up will allow you to boost stats such as health, stamina, damage, and more. You’ll be able to pick your main and secondary weapon, as well as burn items and fuse characters.
What’s Included in the Early Access Launch?
The early access launch will allow players to experience the core gameplay of ChronosWorlds, which consists of real-time action platforming combat, dungeon exploration, MMORPG elements, base building, a player-driven economy, character progression, PvE missions, and PvP gameplay.
Most of these features should be available in this early release, so you will be able to enjoy most of the planned game modes, “but not all at the same time,” according to the FAQ section of the official store page. The plan is to exit early access by 2026.
According to an X reply by the game’s co-founder & CEO to a community member’s question, the game will initially require a key to play, but will eventually become publicly available as a free to play title for any gamer to jump into, regardless of their experience in blockchain gaming.
Speaking of web3 gaming, the studio aims to provide a seamless gaming experience in which you don’t need to know anything about blockchain technologies to jump in and start playing. This also means that blockchain-related features are optional, and you do not need to connect any external crypto wallet to play. The team is still determining which chain they will use, and there will be a marketplace in the future in which soft currency will be usable for buying in-game items.
How to Play to Earn in ChronosWorlds
Those who want to jump in the web3 side of ChronosWorlds and potentially play to earn in the process will want to participate in the game’s token economy and own optional NFT-based characters called Travelers. They’re available on Magic Eden for the floor price of 0.01 ETH on the Ethereum network, and owning the PFP will give you a customizable in-game playable character you can use anywhere in the game, and any changes you make to it will be reflected in its dynamic traits. By holding a Traveler NFT, you get benefits such as a points multiplier and potentially an airdrop allocation of the upcoming $SPHR token.
$SPHR is the upcoming ecosystem token set to launch at some point after the game goes live on the Epic Games Store. No official release date for the game is available at the time of writing. Players can currently collect airdrop points through the game’s questing platform to potentially secure a token airdrop, with NFT owners receiving points multipliers.
