In partnership with Abstract, Captain & Company (CNC) has kicked off a new tournament called Battle for the Abstract Seas, now officially live to mark the launch of the Pillage Wars game mode. Announced back in May, Pillage Wars is a fresh game mode built around faction-based naval battles and control-based objectives. The event began on Monday, July 28, and invites players to team up, take control of sea zones, and earn a share of the growing prize pool.
The Warchest reward pool has now passed $32,000, and each new player joining during the event helps it grow even larger.

A Week-Long Tournament With Rare Rewards
Battle for the Abstract Seas is a guild-based event running for 1 week. Players can visit capnco.gg to join directly through browser or download the game for Windows, Mac, or Android. Once in, they must join a guild, climb aboard a ship with a captain, and enter combat in Pillage War.
The objective is to loot doubloons, battle foes, and capture control points marked with ⚔️ icons across the map. If a faction manages to control 51% of all zones, they win that round and earn a stronger chance at topping the leaderboard.
Other than the rising prize pool, the top team will also get a limited-edition cosmetic: the Abstract Captain's Wheel, a rare in-game item exclusive to this event.
How to Join the Battle
Getting started is simple. You can start by heading to kap.gg/profile where you can either create a new guild or join an existing one. From there, select a captain, gather your crew, and queue into Pillage War.
Once inside, crews set sail to gather loot. This includes blueprints from NPC ships, fish for crafting resources, and doubloons earned from tower captures. Every action helps the guild move closer to victory.
Capturing towers and fighting enemies builds control across the sea map. Strategy, teamwork, and quick movement are key to holding zones and collecting rewards.
Support Roles Now Play a Key Role
For those who prefer not to fight directly, the game offers new non-combat roles added as part of the Pillage Wars expansion.
One option is to become a Banker, where players can bribe NPC militias or place bets on battles. These actions help their faction earn more presence across the sea without engaging in combat.
Another option is managing Land and Ports. Players can craft with Land Crystals and send idle ships on port missions. These port missions generate doubloons and materials, supporting their team through trade and logistics.
The Warchest and How Rewards Work
Warchest is essentially a growing prize pool that rewards players based on the number of doubloons they collect. As of now, the Warchest sits at over $32,000, and will keep growing as more players take part and make in-game purchases.
To earn doubloons, players need a Pirate Pass, which can be bought in-game for around $5. These passes unlock the ability to collect doubloons and mXP, an event currency that determines how much of the prize pool you'll earn.
Doubloons earned during the event are not winner-takes-all. Anyone who earns them is eligible to claim a share of the Warchest. This means all players, regardless of whether their team wins the event, can walk away with rewards.
How to Earn and Cash Out
The team behind CNC has also shared a structured gameplay loop. Here's how it works:
- Players start with a raft or join a captain's crew.
- They gather resources like ore, cloth, and lumber through fishing and looting.
- These items can be used to craft ships using a Shipwright's Writ, which costs about $15 in-game.
- By capturing towers, players earn doubloons.
- 1 doubloon = 1 mXP, which players can claim at any time through their kap.gg profile.
- Doubloons can be cashed out for Warchest rewards like $CNC tokens, cosmetics, Land Crystals, and more.
Only Pirate Pass holders can claim rewards, and all doubloon earners qualify for a cut of the prize pool, making it a broad-based, inclusive system.
Featured Guilds and Community Creators
The event includes many well-known names from the Abstract community. Creators like Daila, Rubiks, Rain, Woo, Cure, Wiggles, and others have joined to form guilds. Some represent groups such as KTA Guild, bringing together teams of skilled players.
These streamers and players are actively recruiting others to help them take control of the seas. The top guild will not only earn a large share of the prize pool but will also be added to the game's history as the Pirate Lord of the Abstract Seas.
What Kind of Game Is Captain & Company?
Captain & Company is a browser-based online game with cross-platform support. It mixes real-time ship battles with blockchain-based rewards. Players can join in for free, using either desktop or mobile (coming soon), and no download required.
There are two main game types. Pillage War is the recently added team-based, faction mode where players fight for control, take towers, and defeat NPC enemies. Deathmatch is a free-for-all PvP mode where the goal is to survive and reach the top of the leaderboard.
Progression is tied to player actions. Gaining XP allows players to level up and unlock talents. Special perks can be collected and added to a deck that boosts in-game skills. These features reset with each new season, keeping the game fresh.
In-Game Currencies: Doubloons and Nuggies
The game uses two main types of in-game currency. Doubloons are earned by Pirate Pass holders through play and can be exchanged for event rewards. Nuggies are used for repairs, crafting, perk rerolls, and buying a Pirate Pass.
Nuggies are collected by completing game missions and selling resources. They can also be earned through idle missions and land control.
What Pirate Pass Owners Get
Holding a Pirate Pass is required to take part in reward payouts. This includes access to Warchest items, the ability to earn doubloons, and the option to withdraw tokenized assets like cosmetics and NFTs.
With the pass, crew members keep 20% of what they help loot in battle. Captains keep 80%, making it more rewarding to lead a ship. Pirate Passes can be gifted to other players or purchased at any time.
The CNC Token and How It Works
The game also uses a premium token called $CNC. This token offers several benefits. Players can stake $CNC to earn 15% of Warchest payouts. They can also vote on governance changes and stake in liquidity pools for added rewards.
According to the team, the token has value in-game and across the wider KAP ecosystem. Players looking for more long-term value may choose to earn and stake CNC as they play.
The Battle for the Abstract Seas will remain live through the rest of the week. As more players take part, the prize pool continues to grow. Players can compete through combat, trade, or support roles, with all doubloon earners eligible for a share of the rewards before the event ends.
