Pixelcraft Studios, the creators of NFT gaming protocol Aavegotchi, have launched a big new update to free-to-play tower defense game, Gotchi Guardians, introducing various new features and improvements that makes the gameplay experience better for both new and experienced players.
Update Details
Titled Pirates vs. Aliens, this new update brings with it a new Guardian, a new Lickquidator, a new camera mode, an additional item inventory slot and shop slot, and various other improvements, balancing changes and bug fixes. The End of Match screen has also been overhauled to include more detailed info on achievements and XP progression, meaning players will now see progress towards the next level, achievements unlocked in the match, and the total amount of XP gained from the match.
The Pirate
The Pirate is a new Economy Guardian whose skill tree is designed to increase your income and resources when defeating Lickquidators. He uses the Treasure Map and Glittering Blunderbuss to prosper, which are new items that are further improved by his skill trees dedicated to these items alongside Daash Boots. Players of at least level 60 can use this swashbuckling new Guardian, but at some point in the future though, you’ll be able to unlock this Guardian by getting to level 15 with the Soldier of Fortune.

The Glittering Blunderbuss is a new weapon that can be bought from the shop and which allows Guardians send powerful cannonball attacks by using coins. The Treasure Map is The Pirate’s signature and exclusive item that can grant bonus bank at the start of every round. This bonus depends on the amount of stack collected before the new round, which can be accumulated by getting additional coins that have a chance of being dropped by killed enemies. It’s not available for purchase in the shop. Daash Boots provide increased mobility, attack range, damage output and lower cooldown times, while bringing higher movement speed in the preparation phase.
Mama Ship
Mama Ship is a new Lickquidator that appears in late-game battles and as such is made to significantly increase the challenge of those later rounds. The flying enemy has plenty of HP and attacks using rapid-fire bursts of projectiles that have a long cooldown. While it may move slowly upon entrance, its speed considerably increases the further it progresses, and it even places damage-reducing shields onto its friends, making this enemy one of the top-priority foes to take down before it causes lots of chaos.

This Lickquidator comes with 4 Ultimate Upgrades: Energy Drain, Time Acceleration, Regeneration and Tractor Beam. Energy Drain lowers direct damage from nearby towers, while Time Acceleration makes targeted friendly units move faster. Regeneration heals targeted units, and the Tractor Beam targets Aavegotchis to pull them towards the Mama Ship and completely destroy them in the process.
